Email Spam Filtering
Our managed email services work across several levels starting with checks before emails are even accepted by our mail servers.The diagram below gives a brief overview of the process and its varing stages.
How It works
Message transfer agent filter
Before emails are even accepted for delivery by our servers we evaluate the sender mail servers,IP addresses and behavior. These are compared against our custom rule sets and database of recent attackers. Attempted connections by open relays,zombie networks and information harvesters are rejected at this stage.

Multi engine virus check
Our multi tier virus canning engines evaluate inbound and outbound messages in succession and remote viruses and notify the affected senders and recipients. Viruses are then deleted.


Spam filtering and File Type filtering
Virus free messages are then filtered against our Spam and Philshing databases and black lists,and a range of file type and file name protection rules. Content filtering engines score and rate the emails based on multiple checks,high scoring Spam is removed and quarantine,possible Spam is tagged and forwarded on.

Quarantine and clean message delivery
Messages that do not meet certain criteria,such as dubious file types are sent to quarantine for furter investigation whilst clean mail is then forwarded onto your email servers.

How does it work?
Instead of email being delivered directly to your in house or ISPs mail email server. The MX (Mail exchanger) records for your companies domain name are changed to deliver to our network of email servers first. Here they are processed according to your criteria,the cleaned messages are then sent onto your mail server or ISP. Back to top

What if I get spam?

Do I need to install any software?
You do not have to install or updating any software or hardware to use our services,All of the changes and email filtering are completed externally to your site.In fact all that needs to be done in most cases it a change of DNS mail exchange records,which can be completed by your ISP or online in about 10 minutes. Is there any affect on my computers or network?
You should notice a dramatic reduction in the levels of Spam being received and the elimination of any virus emails and remote exploits entering your network. Email servers and Internet bandwidth will also perform better due to the reduced loads of inbound email that need delivery and processing. Back to top

I don't need this I already have anti virus?
This is common answer ,however consider this,anti virus software no longer offers sufficient protection from the newer worms and exploits,many of which are not detected at all by virus scanning products. Anti virus on its own offers no protection at all against Dictionary harvest attacks and Philshing scams or remote exploits against your mail servers.
Add to this the fact that anti virus software needs to be kept installed and updated on your desktop PCs and servers to be any way efficient.,missing just one update can leave you open to vulnerabilities ,viruses and worms.
Given the speed new viruses spread across the globe (Matter of minutes),ask yourself this, will you be in the office a 3am on a Saturday,when the next virus or worm is discovered,to make user the machines and servers on your network are up to date?

How do I get a message that has been filtered?
All messages that get filtered are stored in your on line control panel and can be released or deleted should you wish,they are stored for 20 days on line before being deleted automatically. Back to top

Yes all of our customers can log into the control panel and run the following features

· manage quarantine
· view logs
· view virus and Spam statistics

What happens if an email gets blocked?
If an email gets blocked or sent to quarantine both the sender and the recipient are emailed and notified. The recipient can the delete or release this attachment via the control panel. Back to top
